Come learn about the world of plants through hands-on experiments with popcorn, soybeans, and microgreens! Explore thermodynamics while observing and experimenting with popcorn, learn about seed germination with a soybean living necklace activity, and create a microgreen jar garden to grow and enjoy microgreens! Minimum of 10 to hold the class.

Come share your creativity and brighten the sidewalks at the Montevideo Veterans Home! Participants will pair up with veterans to decorate the sidewalks with chalk and enjoy a fun intergenerational activity together. This is a relaxed come- and-go event, and all ages are welcome. Please check in at the front desk when you arrive and we will help match you with a Veteran to create art together. This is a FREE event, but registration is requested for our planning.

In Art Around the World, participants will explore different cultures through unique and colorful art projects inspired by traditions from across the continents. Imagine creating a vibrant dragon inspired by Chinese New Year, designing bold, patterned masks influenced by African art, crafting elegant fans from Japan, or experimenting with colorful yarn art inspired by Mexico. Each session offers a new opportunity to discover artistic styles from around the world while expressing creativity in fun, engaging ways. Welcome to this fun and hands-on class where young minds dive into the exciting world of Science! This class is designed to spark curiosity through interactive projects, games, and experiments. Each session will focus on a theme and students will conduct fun science experiments, and explore the basics of science through play. Our goal is to encourage creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork in a lively and supportive environment, helping children become confident learners and future innovators!

Bring your imagination and get ready for some cozy, creative fun! In this hands-on class, each child will create their very own teddy bear friend (no sewing required) to take home and love. To make their new pal extra special, participants will decorate a tiny t-shirt for their bear with colors, designs, and personality. Once our bears are ready, we’ll wrap up with a sweet teddy bear picnic—spreading out blankets, enjoying a simple snack, and listening to a story together with our new furry friends by our side. It’s the perfect mix of creativity, pretend play, and relaxed social time!

Calling all young performers! Join us for an exciting summer theatre experience as students bring The Lion King to life on stage. Participants will audition, rehearse, create, and perform in this fun and fast-paced production while learning valuable theatre skills, building confidence and teamwork along the way. Auditions for all students will be held on August 3. Participants will then be placed into one of two production groups based on grade level and role. Participants will spend the week learning songs, choreography, acting, and stage movement as they prepare for their performance. In addition to performing, students will help design and create set pieces, props, and lobby displays, giving them a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to put on a production. Actors will be given an opportunity to participate in BOTH weeks of the workshop in some capacity. At time of registration, please indicate the student’s willingness/availability to attend the second week of workshop and performances. This is optional and there is no additional cost for the second week. Each day participants will be bussed to Sanford Elementary for the FREE lunch program. Beat the heat with a blast of water-filled fun! This one-time class is all about outdoor water games, from silly relays to splash-tastic challenges. Expect giggles, teamwork, and a whole lot of water! Come prepared to get wet! We will have fun with water games and cool off with a freeze pop after the games.

Camp will provide hands-on experience working with horses. No experience is necessary, and horses will be provided. Topics covered will include horse safety, grooming techniques, leading and handling techniques,and basic horse care. Participants should bring water, sunscreen, wear long pants, and tennis shoes or hard soled shoes. Sandals or flip-flops are not allowed. Helmets are required and will be provided. Limit of 15 participants.

Step into the kitchen arena for a day of baking, creativity, and friendly competition! In Cupcake Wars: Youth Edition, participants will roll up their sleeves to bake their own cupcakes from scratch. While the cupcakes cool, everyone will enjoy a fun dinner break together. (Lunch provided by Ms. B) Then the real challenge begins—our Cupcake Decorating Wars! With a wide variety of edible decorations to choose from, youth will design, frost, and decorate their cupcakes in imaginative ways. From sprinkles and candies to colorful frosting and creative toppings, the possibilities are endless. Every child will be celebrated as a winner, with prizes awarded for creativity, effort, and flair. It’s a sweet blend of culinary arts, teamwork, and fun competition that ends with delicious results.
